Clipboard Manager Free

Last Updated: February 2026

Introduction

Clipboard Manager Free ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome that helps you manage your clipboard history. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the extension handles your information.

Data Collection and Storage

  • Local storage only. All data created or used by the extension (clipboard history, settings, usage statistics, and schema version) is stored only on your device using Chrome's local storage (e.g. chrome.storage.local). We do not operate any servers that collect or process your clipboard content or any other personal data.
  • No transmission. Clipboard text, history, statistics, and settings are never sent to our servers, third-party servers, or any external service. The extension does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising networks.

What Data the Extension Uses

  • Clipboard history: Text you copy or cut on web pages may be saved in the extension's local history so you can search, transform, paste, or manage it. Each history item also stores the domain name (hostname) and page title of the website where the text was copied, so you can identify the source later. You can clear, edit, or export this data at any time from the extension popup or the options/settings page.
  • Settings: Your preferences (e.g. maximum history size, theme, auto-cleanup period, context menu and notification options) are stored locally.
  • Usage statistics: The extension tracks aggregate statistics locally (e.g. lifetime copy count, item counts by type). These statistics are never transmitted anywhere and contain no personal information.
  • Schema version: A version number is stored locally so the extension can migrate your data to newer formats on update without data loss.
  • Sensitive data: The extension tries to avoid saving content that looks like passwords, credit card numbers, OTP/codes, API keys, private keys, and similar sensitive patterns. Such content is not added to history when detected. This is done only on your device; no list of "sensitive" content is sent anywhere.

Permissions

The extension requests certain Chrome permissions to provide its features:

  • Storage: To save and load your clipboard history, settings, usage statistics, and schema version on your device.
  • Context menus: To show "Clipboard Manager" and your recent items when you right-click in editable fields, and to paste the selected item into the page.
  • Active tab / host access: To run a small script on web pages so we can (1) detect when you copy or cut text and add it to history, and (2) paste text from the context menu into the active field. The script does not read the full page; it only reacts to copy/cut and to paste requests from the extension.
  • Alarms: To run periodic tasks: auto-cleanup of old items (every hour), storage quota monitoring (every 6 hours), and badge count refresh (every 30 minutes).
  • Clipboard read / write: To read from and write to the system clipboard when you use the extension to copy or paste items.

We do not use these permissions to collect, upload, or share your data with anyone.

Data Retention and Your Choices

  • You can clear all non-pinned clipboard items at any time from the popup or settings.
  • You can edit individual clipboard items to change their text.
  • You can export your history to a file (Text, JSON, or CSV) on your computer from the popup or settings.
  • You can import clipboard history from a JSON file to restore or transfer data between devices. Imported data stays local.
  • You can detect and remove duplicates with one click.
  • You can uninstall the extension; after uninstall, local data associated with the extension may be removed by Chrome according to its own rules. We do not retain any copy of your data.

Children's Privacy

The extension is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information. All processing is local on the user's device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we encourage you to review the policy again.
